Episode 40: (The British) Survivors

No, it's not the 80s Robin Williams/Water Matthau film.  No, it's not the band.  This is Survivors, the 2008 BBC series about the end of (most of) the world by the mother of all viruses.  When the "European flu" kills off 90% of the global population, how will those that remain survive, and how will society rebuild itself?  Follow a group of Britain's few remaining souls as they attempt to answer these questions, and listen as Post-Apodaclypse hosts Tim Watts and Michael O'Connell walk you through the first two episodes of season 1.

Also available on iTunes.

  1. Great episode! Glad you guys covered this show. It's a favorite of ours.

We really liked the deconstruction. Hope to hear more coverage in the off season before the major network shows heat up.

  2. Hey guys, I enjoyed the show as usual, and you guys always do a great job. But how could you do an entire show on Survivors and not mention the original 1975 series?

It was written by Terry Nation, of Dr. Who fame, and ran for three seasons starting in 1975, so is probably the first PA series on tv (depending on if you count the Planet of the Apes tv series from a year prior). So a lot of what looked like it was influenced by The Stand was actually from the original series.

I confess I haven't watched it myself, but I have read the novelization. Maybe you guys can watch the pilot of the original and do a compare/contrast show?

You can watch entire episodes on Youtube. Here's ep 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKcK3dnnwX8&hd=1
