The 1978
Stephen King novel titled "
The Stand" came in at over 800 pages and blew the minds of lovers of both fiction and of post-apocalyptic fiction. Considered one of King's crowning accomplishments, it was re-released in 1990 in a complete and uncut version, this time weighing in at nearly 1200 pages. In 1994, after years of dispute and typical Hollywood development hell scenarios, the story was finally adapted for the screen in an 8-hour TV miniseries by ABC.
Dealing with both the end of the world by pandemic (the "superflu") and a theological good-vs-evil struggle with the last remnants of mankind, The Stand has become one of the seminal works in the genre. But how will hosts
Tim Watts and
Michael O'Connell feel about both the book and the TV adaptation? Tune in to this latest edition of
Post-Apodaclypse to find out.
